Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He was enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. He was also featured in The Killing, a drama series which was broadcast across the world. He then appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill Two internationally popular Danish dramas. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, during an episode of BBC drama Sherlock. In the American television show House of Cards, he was the president of Russia. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride on the Storm.In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English, and he has mastered different accents. He stated that he and his brother first began to learn English by listening to and studying the Monty Python songs.
